  • LR is my partner’s favorite cycling channel... i do prefer @thecyclingdane, but LR is world class too. it’s like choosing between roglic and carapaz!

  • Nadal extraordinary player

  • No

  • What an exciting battle between Roglic and Carapaz , they are both fantastic riders

  • Loved this finale, Rog seemed the only one who didn't underestimate how difficult this club was

  • Just beat wolves.

  • Millar, the doper. Oh I forgot. He regretted, it's all good.

  • I’m really enjoying your analysis. Keep up the good work.

  • The guy is an absolute legend

  • When Roy was born, he named his parents.

  • I'm biased because I'm Australian, but superb commentary, just brilliant

  • 7:00 kills me every time I see it

  • 7:00 kills me every time I see it

  • Question, on a climb like this how much of an advantage is being on someone else's wheel? Is it mechanical or psychological?

  • So accessible and informative, keep up the great work

  • Interesting to reflect that it was Tony Blair's administration that focused money on three sports back around 2000: rowing, sailing and cycling. This led to success for all three in the 2008 Olympics. Brailsford used this impetus to set up Team Sky with Murdoch's money, more recently morphing into Ineos. It was Rohan Dennis's hard work that gave Geoghan Hart a shot at the title on Sunday. So during the celebrations, spare a thought not only for Dennis, but for the other unlikely, much hated these days, facilitator, Tony Blair.

  • more more more latern rouge

  • Just what is a big engine , i have heard that term often and seems to go with bigger cyclist ..

    • I would go beyond what Rafid is saying a "big" engine is someone who can ride with big watts for a long time. Generally, this will be the riders FTP (which is defined as what they can hold for an hour). Bigger riders, while heavier, tend to also be stronger in terms of raw sustained power. However, this only matters if your power to weight is competitive. To give you an idea of what "size" this engine will be, Riders like Froome, Wiggins, Thomas, Dumoulin, Dennis will likely have FTPs in the region of 440-460w. These guys are also ridiculously light considering their power. Typical climbers like Carapaz, Bernal, Sosa, quintana etc; will have FTPs in the region of 370-400, but while being 10kg+ lighter than the aforementioned riders, meaning they go very very fast uphill, but can't put out the saw raw power on the flats, meaning they go slower in TTs. Carthy, while he is a climber, he is also very tall, meaning he weighs in around 69kg, similar to where Froome sits, and thus given he can climb with the best, and fight it out when the pure climbers are doing 6.5W/kg, he clearly must have an FTP in the 440s at least. This in theory means he could be good at TTs, but likely doesn't have his position well dialled or trained. One key performance indicator for TT's is also being able to sustain high power in a very aggressive position. What is often the case is that given how hard a tour is, a Pro wont be riding at their absolute maximum every day, but the higher that maximum is, riding at a % of it day in day out is proportionally easier. Riders like Roglic and Pogacar sit somewhere in the middle, likely weighing in the mid-60s, with Threshold's of around 420-430, but these guys have an extra advantage in the time trial. A great balance of raw power, while also being smaller riders, allowing them to be very very aerodynamic (...unless of course someone decides to give the leader of the TDF a weird bucket-safety hat)

    • @Rafid Aziz wonderfully described

    • A "big engine" is generally someone who can ride the same watts for a long time, and not react to attacks as much, rather go at their own steady tempo. Generally, it is related to guys like Roglic, Dumoulin, Dennis and Thomas all of whom are very good in TT's and can sustain "x" amount of watts for a long time on a climb, just like they can on a TT.

  • Stoked for Lanterne Rouge to be doing these, very very good analysis as per. Disgustin!!

  • Harry Maguire is the 2nd most out of place human after Donald Trump. Has no business being on a professional football pitch let alone at Man U after an 80mm transfer

  • NOlong sees a video with Keane, NOlong puts it first on recommendations immediately. Well done NOlong

  • LR: Lets try to hit a thousand likes. NOlong: hold my beer

  • Great stuff Lanterne, made my day so much better with this video

  • Just get roglic out of green please

  • This is some seriously high level analysis. Praise the Lanterne Rouge!

  • No because he has no TT.

  • I watched the last hour of the stage. Great to hear an intelligent analysis. Thanks LR and ITV

  • ROGLIČ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Watched this in a pub. Didn’t actually see the Dier penalty hit the back of the net in the pandemonium that ensued

  • Quality analysis as always from LR

  • Good analysis red lantern

  • It's such a strange sensation to watch Lanterne Rouge videos with 1080p, official race-feed footage. This is luxurious. I hope this arrangement is working out for everyone, because the results are fantastic.

    • Yeah, I made a similar comment a few days ago. We are used to watch LR's analysis vids with 144p ;-)

  • Enjoyed that👏👏👏Go Roglic 👍

  • I would say he won't even podium at the vuelta this year

  • 💉💉doping

  • First View.

  • Great commentary.

  • I’d prefer “adios” instead of “ciao” seeing as it’s the Vuelta, not Giro 🤓

    • that is his outro on his channel and he is keeping everything the same

  • Go Carapaz! Respect from Brazil.

  • Thank you and ITV! This is how you report a race! Now we know what happened. I need this for every race.

    • Check out LR's podcast! You can listen to it here on youtube, if you like to.

  • Roglic's form is making the 2020 Tour look like a very elaborate tune up race for La Vuelta.

  • Fantastic content :) Solid view to like ratio!

  • I’d prefer “adios” instead of “ciao” seeing as it’s the Vuelta, not Giro 🤓

    • @Tihomir Brkic perfección!!!!

    • @Clem Johnson how about adios and ciao. little flavor

    • Good point. But "Ciao" is and always will be the way THIS gentleman signs off.

    • Importante!!

  • Nothing better than watching the stage, then listening to LR recap to highlight the details.

  • Lantern Rouge!

  • Amazing. Great analysis. Masterclass win!!!

  • Those 7 points at the end could be costly as it’s probably going to come down to points difference

  • These videos are soooooooooo good

  • That one dislike came from Carapaz

  • Roglic would “normally”ride a better time trial than Carapaz.

    • Agree. Luckily for Carapaz the TT is just a little over 20 miles and there are a few hilly stages along with two mountain before the TT and one afterwards where either rider can make or break this race.

  • Surprised to hear the lantern rouge 😃

  • disgoosten

  • "Watts to come on the Angliru" Nice pun Lanterne

  • Do you reckon that carapsz shouldve let roglic do work as well? I think roglic is still the favourite and would be probably worried if carapaz stops chasing Martin or hughcarty

    • Maybe, but if Roglic goes to close the gap, it is going to be a big burst that puts Carapaz in trouble. Carapaz would rather set his own steadier pace to close that gap. Plus there's a chance that Roglic is NOT worried about Carthy and let's Sepp go for the stage win.

  • Incredible RP. But am still waiting for the day he makes big gains from way out than these last few meters. These marginal gains got him into trouble at the TDF and lost the yellow

  • What do you mean by being "a satellite" on climbs for another team member?

    • Going up the road in front of the GC group, stay on a 30 sec gap. Later in the race, your GC buddy can jump up to you, and you can be his personal domestique up the mountain

    • I think he means to have them up the road to tow when the leader attacks out of the group

  • I followed ITV sport because of Lanterne Rouge. Just so you know ITV.

  • Roglič used to be very bad in sprints (that including uphill sprints, reduced sprints..) because he was so aggressive in his early years (2012 - 2015). Then he learned to hide and save energy. And took it to the extreme so that he was perceived as a wheelsucker. What an irony! He has since learned he has the nitro booster in his legs. Still afraid to attack too soon (as this was a perceived cause of many losses during 2012-2015) but as his confidence grows, we will see more of this. He has great stamina and aerobic potential, as was displayed many times in the past in the ITT's he's won, on the TDF 2017 Galibier stage, .. He's just uneasy going by instinct (instead of listening to every word from the car). But no worries, the instinctive Rogla is coming!!

    • @Matias Nigrum No. He signed with JV in 2016. That's when he started blossoming.

    • Primož only started cycling 2013-2015 in Slovenia...on the big stage from 2015 on...

    • Or he decided to go on the dope

  • Love the fact that Nadal is looking forward to playing Novak more. That should put to rest (hopefully) that Djokovic is in his head.

  • Great vid and breakdown Lanterne Rouge. Showed an exciting stage very well

  • Great work ITV bringing the fans the premium content they want. Forza.

  • Who do you think is going to win La Vuelta, Carapaz or Roglic? Or maybe it will be another outsider like Mas or Carthy, it is 2020 after all...

    • Wow... Dan Martin proving he's right up there with the two big boys, yet Lantern completely dismisses him :(

    • I just want it for Roglič because I. Know he is so determined

    • It depends. If the weather wil be cold and rainy, Roglic might get into trouble. If not, he should be able to win.

    • @fionn malin right mate....Dean deserve all the merits as Carapaz and Roglič....Dean is a fighter....altough I am fan of Primož I do respect all the competitors.....Fuerza Rogla💪💪💪💪💪

    • My personal favorite is Carapaz, I really love him and his intelligent and crazy riding style, but I think it will be Roglic. He is too strong in sprint and ITT. By the way, I think it is pronounced Soler with l, because it isn't written with ll, but I am not entirely sure, I don't know the exact Catalan pronunciation.

  • When Roglič goes Pantani style in the drops you know you're in trouble.

  • Great analysis! Im very glad that Roglic has the power to fight back against Carapaz.

  • superb commentary

  • Roy Keane is all talk. Viera exposed him

  • Great breakdown again. I agree, with 850m to go Carapaz should’ve sat in Roglic’s wheel for a few hundred meters. I still think Roglic was too strong today regardless, but maybe Carapaz wouldn’t have lost as much time.

  • I was screaming like mad in front of TV goooo Rogla gooooo

    • @Qopiq q more like jumbo visma are boring us all off since the restart in august

    • Me too

    • @Qopiq q bro? Jumbo visma is the new boring ineos, ineos much more exciting these days than jumbo visma

    • Me too, i don't like team sky/ineos at all. I feel like Jumbo Visma gave us joy after years of boring and sightly nasty ineos controll in the big rounds. Roglic deserved the tour win in my opinion and i am definetly rooting for him in the vuelta

  • Dear LR, A great analysis. Many thanks. John

  • Great breakdown as always by Lanterna Roja

    • Actually, Benji Naesen is arguably as good or better an analyst, but LR is an outstanding communicator on top.

    • Different class. He’s world tour and the rest are pro Conti at best.

  • 0:29 beautiful-girls-here.online

  • Mans on form

  • First 🙌🏼🤩

  • Won't beat around the bush, Tao is a one time hit. Well done to the lad, but this was an unusual Giro given main contenders left early or weren't on top of their game.

    • Time will tell.

  • What a beautifully diverse team you have in your studio! That white lady needs to simmer down a bit though - first she interrupts 4:17 the Indian (I hope I got it right) gentleman clearly trying to use her white privilege there, and then she makes some lowkey remarks about skipping school to the dark skinned gentleman with urban haircut. I think she needs to redo her racial sensitivity training, everyone agrees?

  • How was that first yellow not a red?

  • Really happy for Tao but also disappointed for Geraint Thomas. He was in great form coming into this Giro. Not sure they stars are going to align for him again.

  • Bit late for uploading the highlights

  • Pinocho Bernal ya no vuelve a ganarse nada grande.

  • Cierto Pinocho Bernal. Mas aun que con una pierna mas larga camina como marino recien bajado de un barco.
